About our client

Our client is a dynamic Quantity Surveying & Cost Consulting practice based in Cape Town. They specialize in cost planning, cost control, risk management, and financial viability analyses from project inception to completion. Role Purpose

To support our clients’ cost consulting and quantity surveying functions by assisting with preparing bills of quantities, cost estimates, contract administration, cost monitoring, and ensuring financial control of projects under the guidance of senior QS staff. The candidate will help deliver accurate, timely cost information for projects, contribute to risk management, and ensure documentation is compliant and well-maintained.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist in preparing Bills of Quantities (BoQs), cost estimates, and quantity take‑offs.

• Support cost planning and budget preparation.

• Monitor and track project costs, cash flows & progress valuations.

• Help in procurement processes: obtaining and evaluating subcontractor / supplier quotations.

• Support contract administration: preparing payment certificates, variation orders, and contract documentation.

• Perform measurement, site visits and liaise with site / project teams.

• Ensure document control: versioning, filing, archiving, quality checking documents.

• Assist in compiling cost reports, cost analyses, and variation claims.

• Identify cost risks and suggest mitigation measures.

Qualifications & Experience

Minimum Qualification: BSc Honor’s in Quantity Surveying (or equivalent recognized degree)

Professional Registration: Registered or in process of registration with SACQSP (Candidate QS)

Experience: Around 2 years in a consulting QS / cost consulting environment; exposure to BoQs, cost estimating, cost control in building projects or similar.

Contract / Procurement Knowledge: Familiar with standard contract types used in South Africa (e.g. JBCC, GCC etc.), procurement / tender processes.

Software Skills: Proficient in MS Office (especially Excel); experience with QS-related software is a plus (e.g. WinQS, DimensionEX, CostX or similar)

Other Skills: Strong numerical ability; attention to detail; good written & verbal communication; ability to work under deadlines; ability to liaise with multiple stakeholders; ability to follow up and ensure tasks are completed.
