Our client is an accredited specialist service provider offering construction, project development and project-management solutions, offering both conventional and alternative construction methods. They deliver turnkey solutions in general building, warehouse construction, rapid-build school projects, and alternative structural systems.
Purpose of the Role
You will oversee day-to-day site operations, manage site teams and subcontractors, ensure safe, efficient and high-quality delivery of projects and act as the key on-site interface between the site workforce, Project Management team and commercial / contract functions.
Key Responsibilities
Supervise and coordinate all site activities including labour, subcontractors, plant, materials and site logistics.
Ensure construction works are executed in accordance with drawings, specifications, contract conditions, quality standards, programme requirements and company policies.
Monitor progress on site, report on delays, quality issues, cost impacts, variations, and assist in implementing corrective actions.
Maintain safe and clean working environment, enforce health & safety protocols and ensure compliance with relevant legislation and company safety requirements.
Liaise with engineers, project manager, QS and others to ensure alignment of site execution with design, contractual and commercial requirements.
Assist in preparation of daily/weekly site reports, progress measurement, resource tracking and documentation of change orders or site instructions.
Manage subcontractor performance, ensure scope is executed, claims and extensions are managed and works are handed over correctly.
Manage site budget controls: monitor plant/material usage, waste, rework, site-based cost efficiencies.
Lead, mentor and motivate site workforce and junior foremen, set clear expectations and ensure high workmanship standards.
Facilitate hand-over procedures at project completion, ensure commissioning, quality close-out, snag lists and final sign-off are managed.
Travel to site(s) as required; may stay on site depending on project requirements.
Requirements
Minimum of National Diploma or BSc/BTech in Construction Management, Civil Engineering or Quantity Surveying (or equivalent) is preferred.
At least 5 years’ hands-on experience in site management / foreman role in building, industrial or alternative construction environment.
Practical understanding of conventional and alternative construction methods – given our client’s offering in both.
Strong leadership and people-management skills; ability to lead site teams, subcontractors and coordinate multi-discipline trades.
Solid understanding of construction programmes, site logistics, quality control, H&S compliance, subcontractor management and cost-control.
Excellent organisational, communication and reporting skills.
Able and willing to travel to site and spend time on-site; valid driver’s licence and own reliable transport would be an advantage.
Proactive, hands-on, with the ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, solve site issues quickly and maintain high standards.
