Tags: Quarry ManagerOur client is looking for a QUARRY MANAGER at their group of companies. Their offices are situated outside Durbanville on the Vissershok Road. This position is available at their Quarry outside Malmesbury.
They are a dynamic vibrant company supplying the building industry with aggregates, ready-mix and precast elements (hollow core and stairs).
The person will take charge of a granite open cast mine as well as a sand mine. This position reports to the Operational Manager.
Responsibilities will include but is not limited to the following:
General managing of the day-to-day operations, which will include adherence to Health & Safety protocols
Production Efficiency by ensuring that the daily targets are met, action on issues when arise (such as plant or fleet breakdowns, staff absentees, incidents, technical issues, client complaints etc.)
Arrange and plan for drilling and blasting
Ensure machinery is properly maintained, and being operated according to stipulated legal requirements and safety standards
Ensure maintenance schedules are properly managed – which includes proper preventative maintenance planning
Take responsibility of the quality of material produced
Manage, prepare for and facilitate monthly DMRE inspections – ensure compliance
Ensure compliance with Mine Health and Safety Act
Ensure compliance of the mine’s Environmental Management Programme (EMP)
Report and action incidents according to procedure and assist with investigation and resolution
Manage, follow up and close out client queries and complaints and keep clients in the loop (provide continuous feedback)
Minimum Requirements:
Examine and Make Safe qualification
Open cast blasting ticket
NQF5 will be a bonus
Excellent management and customer service skills
Minimum 5 years’ experience in relevant technical, production and planning fields
Excellent communication, problem solving and team management skill
