Tags: Senior Quantity SurveyorOur client is looking for a highly skilled and detail-oriented Senior Quantity Surveyor to join their team in Bellville, Cape Town. The ideal candidate will bring extensive experience in residential developments, a deep understanding of project cost control, and strong proficiency in CCS Candy.
A key requirement for this role is hands-on CCS Candy expertise—the successful candidate must not only have worked extensively on Candy but must also be capable of setting it up and implementing it to our company’s standards. This includes importing a master resource list, drafting a master BOQ, building up all rates and worksheets, and aligning the system with our specific needs.
This role requires both strategic financial oversight and hands-on project involvement to ensure construction projects are delivered on time, within scope, and on budget.
Key Responsibilities
· Prepare and manage cost estimates, budgets, and detailed financial reports.
· Conduct accurate measurements and take-offs from architectural and engineering drawings.
· Compile and submit monthly valuations, progress claims, and final accounts.
· Oversee subcontractor procurement, contract administration, and cost control.
· Ensure all subcontractors are BIBC compliant.
· Assess and process variations, change orders, and contractual claims.
· Monitor and ensure compliance with contractual terms and conditions.
· Collaborate with internal project teams, clients, and external stakeholders.
· Perform cost analysis and value engineering to improve financial efficiency.
· Assist in the preparation of cash flow forecasts and financial planning documents.
· Lead and allocate tasks to junior and intermediate QS team members.
Requirements
· Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Quantity Surveying.
· Minimum 8 years of relevant experience, specifically in residential construction.
· Advanced proficiency in CCS Candy is essential. The successful candidate must be able to:
o Import a master resource list
o Draft a comprehensive master BOQ
o Build up all rate structures and worksheets
o Fully implement and tailor the system to suit company-specific needs
· Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
· Experience using Dimension X.
· Familiarity with Xero Accounting Software and Smartsheet (advantageous).
· Strong numerical, analytical, and negotiation skills.
· Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
· Proven ability to manage multiple priorities under pressure and meet deadlines.
· High level of accuracy, attention to detail, and professional accountability.
